There is a tea plant (Camellia sinensis) and only infusions of that plant are tea.
Just as there is a coffee plant, the coffee tree, and only from its seeds comes the infusion called coffee.
All other infusions you make and drink (chamomile, lavender, cinnamon, linden, mullein, hibiscus, mint, apple, cinnamon, red fruits, etc.) are TISANES (because you didn't make them with the tea plant).
