Who is Remi?

Remi Cárdenas was born in the usually foggy city of Xalapa in 1986. The mountain climate and proximity to nature would mark his two great passions in life, art and tea. From a very early age he showed a great interest in drawing and painting, a skill that he continued to develop until he decided to formalize his training. Beginning his studies at the Universidad Veracruzana, although not satisfied with what he had learned, he chose to take courses in Toronto at the Academy of Realist Arts and in Washington DC at CORCORAN College of Art + Design. At the same time, his passion for the exotic prompted him to study Japanese and learn other Asian calligraphy. Later he decided to move to New York City to study classical painting and drawing at the Grand Central Academy under the tutelage of renowned artists in the representational field. It is there that his curious gaze towards Tea also blossoms, with a constant fascination for the hot infusion Remi begins to visit not only Japanese Tea houses, but also Chinese, Taiwanese, Indian, Moroccan and British ones; thus his knowledge of the world of Tea grows.

For him, tea and art have a great connection, since many of their bases are to cause a spark of inspiration in the spectator or the guest, a way to find beauty in the mundane and in the simple things of life, in respect for nature, respect and hospitality to one another, as well as the mere contemplation of oneself, others and the world around us. Currently, Remi lives in Mexico City where he paints, studies the Japanese ritual of the tea ceremony and continues to spread his love for art and this ancient drink.

In addition to the works with chalk pastel and charcoal that are currently on sale in the EURO TE Online Store , Remi creates works in oil, here is a taste of his talent.
