Iced tea

Iced tea is a traditional drink in the United States, mainly in the southern states where it began to be consumed, almost by accident.

During the World's Fair held in St. Louis, Missouri, in the summer of 1904, a tea merchant from India offered his product to passersby, who were immediately rejected because it was a hot drink. Desperate, the man put ice in a jug of hot tea. Soon long lines formed to try the refreshing drink.

There are 2 ways to prepare it, with infusion in hot water or in cold water:

In hot water

It is the traditional way of making it and the only difference with a hot tea is that it is made in less water.

Add the same amount of Tea or Tisane that you use for a cup of hot Tea (if the Tea is in a bag, use 1 piece), add ONLY ½ cup of hot water (4 oz), let it sit for the time indicated for each case (see our technical sheets for each type of Tea), and pour (strain) it into a glass filled with ice.

If you want to sweeten it, it is advisable to do so when the infusion is hot (before pouring it onto the ice) or you can use natural syrup.

In warm water

Follow the instructions above, but this time bring the water to room temperature.

Let it sit for a minimum of 45 minutes (ideally 3 to 6 hours), strain and add ice.

This way of doing it is ideal when we need to make a large amount of tea (especially if we do not want to handle large pots with hot water) and when we have the time to do it.

Garnish your tea with a thin slice of lemon or orange, mint leaves, or even chopped fruit, either natural or in syrup.

You can add a snowball of a fruit that matches or contrasts with the flavor of the Tea, some recommendations are:

TEA FRUIT SNOW
Mint Green Apple Lemon
Black Peach Peach (natural or in syrup) Peach
Blackberry Blackberry Strawberries or Raspberries Strawberry
Lemon Green Apple Lemon
Tropical Mango Mango in syrup Mango
