This very special tea is made from the mature leaves of a special variety of Camellia sinensis, grown in southwestern China. Although the entire process remains a mystery, it is known that the leaves are stacked and moistened to cause bacterial fermentation (much like wine) and then dried and “aged” in dark, damp cellars or basements. This process makes it the ONLY FERMENTED AND AGED TEA.
Its therapeutic value has been proven by various university studies, finding that it helps our liver to function better, in addition to having the other properties of Camellia sinensis, which is why Pu erh:
