TEA AND DIABETES
In 2020, Mexico ranked sixth in terms of the number of people suffering from diabetes, according to a report from the World Diabetes Federation. That is why many people are looking for remedies to cure or prevent it in our country.
Without pretending that tea is a magic remedy, I would like to talk a little about its benefits against this disease that is so common today and can be fatal if not properly cared for.
In 2005, an article was published in the United Press International, about studies on diabetic mice and suggesting that it may also help humans, the article says:
Green tea and black tea fight diabetes
Black tea is as good as green tea at lowering blood sugar levels and inhibiting cataracts in diabetic mice, researchers said Tuesday.
The study conducted at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania found that both teas reduced glucose levels and other diabetic complications, such as cataracts, during three-month tests performed on laboratory mice.
“Most people, including scientists, believe that green tea has more beneficial effects on health than black tea,” said the author of the study, Joe Vinson, which will be published in the journal of the American Society of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
The discovery that both teas are beneficial suggests that both beverages may be a cheap and simple way for humans to combat diabetes, he said.
Dr. Vinson's previous work showed that both teas equally inhibit arteriosclerosis, a very common risk in people suffering from heart disease.

On the other hand, in 2003, the Diabetes Care magazine published an article that talks about how Ulong Tea helps in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, which says:
“ULONG TEA MAY HELP HYPOGLYCEMIC AGENTS IN THE TREATMENT OF TYPE 2 DIABETES”
Oolong tea is effective in reducing plasma glucose levels in subjects with type 2 diabetes who are taking oral antihypoglycemic agents. “Oolong tea in conjunction with antihypoglycemic agents was more effective in lowering plasma glucose than the drugs alone.”

For the Chinese (the culture of origin of tea with more than 5000 years of history) it is well known that tea helps not only that but also maintains a healthy heart, digestion, the immune system, attacks bacteria and many more benefits.
So don't think twice, drink 3 or 4 cups of tea a day, no matter which of its 6 colors it is: white, green, yellow, ulong, black or pu erh tea, the important thing is that you drink tea to live healthier and with much more peace.
I wish you as always lots of Tea,
